Our friends at Newton Abbott Fire Company, Inc. and Lake Shore Volunteer Fire has brought up a valid issue and we as well thought we should bring the same to light. As we reflect on our year-over-year call response totals, the numbers highlight a troubling trend:2019: 1,258 calls2020: 1,296 calls2021: 1,540 calls2022: 1,896 calls2023: 2,202 calls2024: 2,573 callsThis significant increase in call volume underscores the growing strain on our emergency response system. Many of these calls result from misuse of the emergency system, leading to unnecessary backups at local hospitals and delaying care for those truly in need.Together, we can paint a clear picture of how overdevelopment and misuse of emergency services are impacting our entire community. Responsible development and proper use of the emergency system are critical for ensuring the safety and well-being of all.Together, we can advocate for smarter growth and a more efficient use of emergency resources.Township of Hamburg, NYBeth Farrell, Hamburg Town CouncilwomanMegan Comerford for Hamburg Town Council
